Being your Best Self requires unleashing the (unlimited) potential we have inside us: we can really do be and have anything we want. If only we believed it ... Firstly perfectionitis (a disease that affects many) with its constant neat-picking at absolutely everything perpetuates and enhances the feeling of "not being enough" (good enough, pretty enough, slim enough, young enough, blah blah blah, blah blah ...). Not exactly conducive and supportive of self-love is it? The self-love journey started with keeping a notebook for positive aspects to counter-act all the negative thought (about ourselves) that comes to mind. It then moved on to practice saying those positive things out loud in front of the mirror (Mirror Mirror). PS: how did it go? Weird right? Effective though ... We are now going to build on this with Affirmations. Affirmations are a proven method to prime your brain for positive change. There are different schools of thoughts on this: some people write them down, some people recite them out loud. I personally do both: write them down in my journal - morning and evening - and say them out loud throughout the day. 2 ways fo doing them:- The so-called Jackhammer approach: one positive affirmation said over and over, every day
- "hammer" it into your consciousness.
- The Hummingbird approach: the affirmation changes daily depending on how you feel, what you need on the day.
