Self-acceptance is the key and doorway to our authentic power. Without self-acceptance, there is no true freedom. “Change Your Thoughts and Change Your Life”, we learned last month. Mental chatter and the relentless monkey mind can dismantle even the most disciplined focus. But when we accept ourselves, we're able to embrace every part of ourselves unconditionally. We can acknowledge our strengths and capabilities as well as vulnerabilities and limitations. There is an awareness of our feelings, behaviour and our impact on others. Many of us struggle with self-love and acceptance when it comes to our body. It's a love-hate relationship. One day, we're fierce and hot; the next, we're not. We are worried about what people think of us. But it is not about what others think. It's only about what WE believe and how WE feel. We need to apologise to our body for not always showing it love. We should have loved every bit of it. Every curve, every stretch mark, and any imperfections tell a story. Society's standard of beauty puts continuous pressure to be something we are not. Accepting our body and self-love is a learning journey, sometimes resembling a roller coaster ride.

Self-acceptance is the key and doorway

This month, every day, we can learn together. Every day learning that we are enough, with confidence and strength, celebrating our body and appreciate it. We are beautiful even if we don't fit the stereotypical "perfect." Instead of "perfect", let's focus on "healthy" to start with. PS: Did you know that the No. 1 contributing risk factor for deaths globally is raised blood pressure? Non? Well, each year, ten million people die needlessly due to raised blood pressure. May Measurement Month (MMM) is a global awareness campaign led by the International Society of Hypertension (ISH). So go and get "measured", and I'll see you tomorrow x Change starts from within; that’s why training your consciousness should be your Priority Numero 1 – a daily practice to silence your inner critic.
