Remember to wear your poppy

Hello everyone, and welcome back. Tomorrow is Remembrance Day, and, as you know, it is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to honour armed forces members who died in the line of duty. We observe two minutes of silence at 11am on the 11th of November to pay tribute to our fallen heroes. This day is observed in the USA as well, it is a federal holiday called ‘Veteran’s Day’. Did you know that this day was originally called Armistice Day in both, the UK and USA? As you know, I am not a fan of war – then again, who is? However, for us to have the peace we now enjoy, our forefathers, had to endure the wars, the violence, and the fighting for this era to reign today. And while we take that moment of silence, it is a great time for us to look inward and show our appreciation.. And if we can, attend a wreathing ceremony as well. Additionally, open your purse, along with your heart and donate to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal by clicking here. This year they are back in local communities to raise vital funds for the Armed Forces community. Every person, every donation, and every poppy counts. In my previous post, I spoke of awareness, and similarly, this is a time for awareness too. However, it is an awareness of the past, of what has happened. Understanding the consequences of that past to ensure that such a time does not repeat itself in the future.

Remember to Be Your Best Self

We can take lessons from Remembrance Day, and in some way, understand that we are fighting our own battles every day. We are fighting the system and fighting the patriarchy so that we can have a better tomorrow. Do not forget that at various times in your life, you are at conflict with your former self. While our forefathers sacrificed much in the past, so too, we have to sacrifice to attain the positions we want, the ceiling we must smash, and the goals we strive to achieve. It all starts from within, remember that. See you soon x
