Hello again, and Happy Monday. On Friday we talked about building healthy habits to deal with stress better and build resilience. Building habits like:
  • Sleep to recharge and restore our brain and body
  • Moving or exercising for 30 minutes a day to trigger feel-good endorphins and maintain a positive outlook.
  • Meditation to shrink the brain region associated with emotional processes, reducing stress, anxiety and even changing electrical activity in the brain.
  • And eating P-R-O-P-E-R-L-Y to fuel the brain and the body.
One other important thing, though, to build resilience is your self-talk. Yes, THAT'S RIGHT. Learning to reframe negative self-talk is one technique that can help set you on the right positive path. For example: I'm failing at everything. I'm building momentum, learning and growing. I can't _______________. I choose not to right now. or What can I do right now, then? I never get it right. I have learned another way to do it better next time. I'm not a person who exercises. What can I do to get me moving that I like and do regularly? (hiking, gardening, dancing, walking to work, etc.) I suck at everything. I do plenty of things well. List .... I haven't reached my goals fast enough. This is not a competition, I'm moving at the right pace for me. What if _______________________(insert potential bad scenario)? What if _____________________ (insert opposite potential good scenario) happened instead? I should be doing ______________________. According to whom? Go on try it - what have you got to lose. Be Your Best Self - see you tomorrow x
