Hello everyone and welcome back! I hope that you’re seeing some progress in your routine by now. And, at the same time, my wish for you is that you’re a few steps ahead on your ceiling-smashing journey! In one of our previous blogs, we spoke about every day being a new opportunity, as well as teaching healthy habits into our everyday life. Sometimes, though, we know that we need to let go. Letting go isn’t easy and takes a deep and considerate look inwards before you do. For instance, we all know the harmful effects of nicotine dependence, and while smoking and vaping has a range of health problems associated to them, the habit is also an addictive one. In this case, deciding to cut nicotine out of your day entirely and pretty much going ‘cold turkey’ can be detrimental to your progress. Unlike other stimulants, nicotine must be gradually decreased over some time to ensure that you’re no longer dependent. You can read more about that here. Nicotine withdrawal can lead to mood changes from irritation to mild aggression, so I would suggest beginning your detox during a timeframe that does not affect your progress and climb towards success. You should let go only when it is in your best interest. What do I mean by this? Please read on.

Only let go when it is in your best interest

In this example, you should not begin your nicotine detox on the very day that you have your performance review meeting. Nor should you open yourself up to mood changes when you’re in the process of interviewing for a new job. You should, however, keep the nicotine detox on the cards, but consider beginning the detox journey when you’re on holiday and taking a break from the demands that you normally have on your hands. This example may not be for everyone, but I do hope I’ve managed to get my point across. If you know that something is bad for you and that it is something that you have to change, do not look at it in isolation, but rather consider the various factors that this change in your life will create. Change takes time, and it all begins with that internal decision. As I always say: Change begins within! Once that decision is reached, half your battle is won. So, as you embark on your changes for this year, ask yourself this question: How will this change affect my day-to-day life? And, if it’s for the better, go right ahead! Just be smart about it! I know you will! Until next time x
