Hello there, and happy your Best Self Friday! Yesterday we talked about resilience and how self-care can positively impact mental health and resilience. It is about focusing on giving your body resources to manage stress. Rather than seeking to eliminate the feeling of anxiety. Can control v can’t control. We are currently in Lent, a season of spiritual preparation. Historically, Lent has 40 days beginning on Ash Wednesday, concluding the day before Easter. Many Christians use these 40 days for prayer, fasting and self-restraint. Besides Lent, people fast for all sort of reasons: religious and spiritual reasons or health and dietary reasons.

"Fasting Is Not Just A Physical discipline; it can be a spiritual feast" - Jentezen Franklin

So, what I am talking about here today is the practice of withholding something we'd typically take in (usual food) to create space in our lives to feast on a spiritual level. On purpose.

"Fasting is the first principle of medicine; fast and see the strenght of the spirit reveal itself" - Rumi

We live in a culture of constant and instant gratification and total self-centeredness. So, withdrawing our reliance on earthly things to create space in our souls, it's a way to appreciate what we get to enjoy daily. And reconnect with our true Best Self. See you tomorrow x Change starts from within; that's why training your consciousness should be your Priority Numero 1 - a daily practice to silence your inner critic.
