Hello there, and welcome back! I have been dipping into writing contemporary romance this year with my The Nine Lives of Gabrielle series. In writing it, a question came to mind: do I write a happy-ever-after (HEA) or a happy-for-now (HFN) ending? No worry, I will not spoil it for you and tell you what I did. For that, you have to read the book ( shameless pitch, I know, but hey, you can't blame me for that). The question, nevertheless, is valid in everyday life too.

HAPPY FOR NOW

We always chase future happiness, someday somehow, when something has happened. What's wrong with being content in the moment with the person we are with? Savouring the moment and squeezing the heck out of it. OK, sometimes the present lover or job is not ideal. You can still make the most of it, though. And see if you can improve the current situation ( you can always improve and do better in both life and work). Bearing in mind also that we might not be the absolute ideal for the other person or company. And no, I am talking about settling. I am talking about seeing what is right in front of you in a different kinder light. What's wrong with HFN rather than HEA? What are your thoughts on this? Answer on a postcard.
