Hi everyone and welcome back! The end of October is always exciting! And yes, I am talking about Halloween here. It is a time to dress up, to role-play, and to trick or treat. As fun as it may be for kids, and for us, if we are being honest, Halloween is a night that we often let our inhibitions go. We let our hair down, we put on masks and costumes, and we jovially engage with friends and family. Then Halloween got me thinking… We put on masks and become someone else, something else for the night. Moreover, when we’re not being our authentic selves, are we not wearing masks every day of our lives? There is a famous saying by Oscar Wilde: Give a man a mask and he will show you his true face. How often do we feel that we cannot be who we truly are, due to self-imposed restrictions? By living behind that mask, we are only imposing restrictions on our self-growth. But how do we change this?

Discard the mask through self-acceptance

Through self-acceptance, we can begin to understand who we are. And as I every so often state, change starts from within. So before even throwing off that mask, you must begin by looking at why you’re wearing one (metaphorically speaking), your choices, and your future. Do you want to continue living your life as you currently are? It begins with you, with the choices you make, and with the discipline, you apply today to ensure that tomorrow and each day that follows just gets better and better. And yes, Halloween is fun, so is dressing up, and most definitely, socialising. So, when you put on your mask to complete your outfit at the end of this month, make a mental note that when the party ends, and the new dawn sets in, you remove not just your Halloween mask, but your own self-restricting mask to face the new month with the beginning of a new and authentic you. For November though, I have a surprise for you. Stay tuned to find out more. See you soon x
