Today is Lesson 1 of 7 lessons to build self-acceptance. Yes, we have been talking a lot about self-acceptance so far. From body positivity, health to building strength and endurance whilst challenging ourselves. Self-acceptance means seeing yourself as a person who has imperfections as well as virtues and qualities. It involves valuing yourself irrespectively of achieving "things". You are human, after all. Nobody is great at everything. Or awful at everything either for that matter. Being accepting of yourself contributes to developing emotional resilience that will improve wellbeing. And so, I thought to put together an additional seven lessons to help you building your self-acceptance.

Lesson 1 to Build Self-Acceptance: Self-Awareness

One crucial step of building self-acceptance is self-awareness. Firstly of all, self-awareness is necessary - after all, there are many things that we can't change about ourselves (height, for example). Secondly, self-awareness entails understanding who you are. And being in touch with makes you uniquely you. Thirdly, and most importantly, it means embracing the attributes that can't be changed. And that is irrespective of what they are. Moreover, by accepting them as gifts, you make them part of your unique identity. And that makes you special. And it helps to move you toward self-acceptance.
