Summer In The City: Vagabonding From Village To Village In The Heart Of London - Welcome to Marylebone Village. In week 6 of my London travel blog we are moving down the road from Islington to 'neighbour' village Marylebone, a charming mix of beautiful Georgian squares and terraces, Edwardian and Victorian mansion flats, small independent shops, a weekly farmers' market and a small green oasis of calm (Paddington Street Gardens) that you can rest from the nearby hustle and bustle of Oxford Street (plus it is only a stroll away from Regent Park). On the cultural front, there's the Wallace Collection, Wigmore Hall, and the West End theatres and Everyman arthouse cinema in Baker Street. And if you are feeling you'd like to see some celebrities (or feel like one)then there is André Balazs's boutique hotel, the Chiltern Firehouse, a five-star hotel that feels more like someone's incredibly stylish Victorian house. Marylebone is giving Mayfair and Soho a run for its money my friends...

Food and drinks

108 Brasserie (main photo), local dining, chilled vibes, and a great bar. Fishworks - an award-winning restaurant group with its own fishmonger in each restaurant, where customers can select fish or crustacean, either to take away and cook with or to have cooked there and then to their liking. They have a 2-course seafood lunch for only £ 18, fabulous King Scallops for £ 13 and a whole lobster for £ 36, finger-licking good!!! La Fromagerie – a cheesemonger with a maturing cellar, a dedicated walk-in cheese room, and an affineur (cheese specialist), who is on hand to help with selections. The shop also sells artisan bread, charcuterie, fine wines, and a variety of dry store ingredients including extra virgin olive oils. Rococo Chocolates a chocolate lover's paradise (hey, I'm a girl and I love chocolate, even the smell).

Entertainment/culture

Regent's Park Music Festival, a program of free musical performances every Sunday afternoon and Bank Holiday Monday from 22 June to 8 September - Enjoy music from the Park’s bandstand from the comfort of a deck chair (available to hire) or on a blanket with your picnic. An Enquiring Mind, a Manolo Blahnik curated exhibition featuring some of the most extraordinary creations from his vast private archives side by side with the collection’s artworks in a delightful contrast (10 June-1 September) and no, you can't pick up the shoes;-p. Kentaro Yamada, Everything comes in waves, the first solo exhibition of London-based Japanese artist Kentaro Yamada - a combination of new and old works, including light installations, sculptural objects and a series of dyeline prints created in 2011 after the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami (1-26 July) The St Marylebone Festival (20-26 July) a program of music, dance and film with any profits going towards the conservation and extension of the parish church’s Grade I listed building - a great way of spending a few hours whilst supporting a great cause, a winner in my book.

Shopping

Daunt Books, one of London most beautiful book shop (I love love love it)with fiction, non-fiction, children's books with texts arranged by country (rather than subject). Each month Daunt hosts a range of readings and events featuring the likes of William Boyd, Michael Palin, Alexander McCall Smith, and Jan Morris. #amwriting #amreading Plenty of other shops and things to do of course, but you'll need to go and visit yourself, vagabonding the village from street to street: ready for the experience? #youcreateyourownreality #lifestyledesign #lifestyleedit #followme #like #share Business & Lifestyle Experimentation Blog for #TheWomanAlchemist #SmashYourCeiling #SaturdaySwag
