Surround Yourself With Dreamers - It's #MotivationMonday Thinking Big and visualising is not enough. Consistent application and follow-through are essential. You need others around you for inspiration and motivation, to challenge you and tell you you're talking b******t when you do, people that push you to be your best. Think about it: if you wanted to learn how to play tennis professionally, you would go to a professional school with ex-pros playing in it, people who'd push your game. Same in life (and business). If you want to improve your health and fitness, surround yourself with fit people and exercise/sports. If you have an idea for a business, get a mentor who's done it before, successfully, and hang around the right networking circles. To illustrate this, I'm going to tell you a little story.The marines story
A Marine General invited Tony Robbins to speak to a group of Marines. Tony gave an inspiring speech that excited everyone, including the General. Afterwards, the General asked Tony a very poignant question:
“Tony, why are there Marines who are at their peak in the service…they are motivated and train hard…yet when most get out of the service, they perform below their abilities? Some are struggling to make a living. Why is that? Is it because most people give up, or is it because they just don’t care? Do they need someone barking orders at them for them to perform at peak levels? What is it?”
And Tony answered:
“People will perform at the level of expectation of their peers. Therefore, if you surround yourself with peers who expect you to perform at a higher level, you will perform at that level to achieve the level of expectation of those surrounding you”.
What can I say? Choose wisely. No man is an island.
