Is Emotional Agility The Key To Wellbeing In And Out Of The Workplace? Has Positivity Now Become A New Form Of Cult? It's #WellnessWednesday Because It All Starts With You. What is Emotional Agility, then? Emotional Agility is basically speaking, the ability to manage your thoughts and feelings. In the book Emotional Agility Susan David PhD describe 4 key concepts that underpin the framework discussed :
  1. Showing Up = recognise their own emotions and confront them with curiosity and kindness
  2. Stepping Out = detachment and observation.
  3. Walking Your Why = identifying own core values
  4. Moving On = implementation of changes

Positivity is a "new form of moral correctness, denying the reality of who we are as human beings", says David. Emotionally agile people need the skills and resources to thrive in our fast-changing world. There are no good or bad ways of feeling - it is a totally subjective matter part of the human experience. I've never found negativity useful in facing any problems that came my way, au contraire, although I can understand that positivity preaching can get on people's nerves, especially when facing adversity and/or unwanted change. So what about Emotional Agility in the workplace? Well, that's a topic for next #WellnessWednesday; in the meantime, get the book so we can discuss it. Go on. You know you want to...
