Hello there, and welcome to my Self-improvement blog, Be Your Best Self. In the last two days, I talked about and around the topic of "My Body My Choice", partly ranting about women's rights and my feeling about the Supreme Court decision about abortion rights. But also about dress code and being sexy and how this does not imply a "come-on". Whatever the reason a woman dresses a certain way, it is not an excuse for harassment ( she asked for it). Wearing more revealing clothing and showing off more of the curves or cleavage does NOT mean that the woman in question is easy and/or "up for it". It means N-O-T-H-I-N-G! But, and there is a but ...

YOUR LOOK IS PART OF YOUR BRAND

How you look, and the clothes you choose to wear are part and parcel of how people perceive you. Let's face it, people do not mind-reading, and they create an impression of you based on what they observe. According to Malcolm Gladwell in Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking, people make up their minds about people they meet for the first time in a max of two seconds. T-W-O S-E-C-O-N-D-S! As soon as one sees another person, an impression is formed. "First impressions do matter for both good and bad depending on if the first meeting was fine or not - positive = social cohesion' negative = potential bias and social prejudice - like a halo effect" - STOP IT! It is all in your head - Laura Mariani. So, the point is, when dressing (or undressing) just think: how do I want to be perceived? Is it congruent with my life goals? If not, you know what to do ...
